Do I need a pre-order or a Beta invitation?
No current pre-order step is needed: Steam Early Access is already on sale. Earlier pre-orders offered access to Beta #2, whose published window ended September 6. Compare today’s editions for the game and extras you want; an expired Beta offer is not a reason to pay more.
Already own the game but cannot enter a server? The launch hotfix targets connection problems and login queues. There is no evidence here that buying the Supporter Edition bypasses those issues.

Future price and monetization
Steam says the price may rise closer to full release as content and polish are added. The future amount is unknown. BULKHEAD’s announced Early Access policy says there will be no monetization beyond the optional Supporter Edition during that period.
