Official minimum and recommended requirements

Can my PC run WARDOGS?

1. Open Windows Settings → System → About. Note the processor, installed RAM, system type and Windows version.
2. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) → Performance → GPU. Note the exact graphics model; if more than one GPU appears, check which one the game uses.
3. Open File Explorer → This PC and check the free space on the drive where you will install the game. The published requirement is 50 GB, alongside 16 GB RAM.
4. Compare those exact components with the official minimum and recommended tiers above. A similar model number does not prove equal performance; match the resolution and upscaling target too.
5. Recheck the live Steam table before purchase or launch. These developer targets are not a benchmark of your PC.

Settings: choose a target, then change one thing

1. Start from the published target closest to your hardware: 1080p Low with upscaling at minimum, or 1440p Medium native at recommended.
2. Save your current settings. Change one available graphics option at a time and compare the same scene; restore it if the result is worse.
3. If DLSS Frame Generation is available, compare with it disabled when investigating instability. Season 1 allows disabling it without restarting; this is a diagnostic comparison, not a promised fix.

Please note: No universal best-settings preset or FPS gain has been verified. Queue time and network delay are different from rendering performance.

Unable to launch or crashing? A short checklist

1. Finish pending game updates. For missing or damaged files, open Steam Library → WARDOGS → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.
2. Record whether the crash happens at startup, joining or during play, plus its exact error. Restart once; if it repeats, stop repeating the same attempt.
3. Send the error, CPU/GPU, driver version and DxDiag to Team17 support. Their crash replies request diagnostics and check drivers against the affected hardware.

Please note: File verification checks the installation; it does not fix a full server or prove an anti-cheat diagnosis. Use the official support channel for case-specific repairs.

Season 1 performance and stability changes

Season 1 added a no-restart DLSS Frame Generation toggle and addressed frame-generation crashes and shadow hitches. Patch 0.11 lists further GPU crash fixes. These are developer-reported changes, not evidence that every crash is resolved.

Please note: Read the dated patch notes when comparing reports from different builds.

What the official table does not prove

The table does not establish competitive settings, low-end presets, driver behavior, frame-time stability, input latency or Steam Deck performance. The published requirements are performance targets, not a set of repeatable benchmark results.

Does WARDOGS support Linux or Steam Deck?

In the September 4 developer statement, BULKHEAD says it does not officially support Linux and cannot commit to support for the September 10 Early Access launch. Work on Proton compatibility continues; no support date is confirmed.

An earlier Alpha or Beta running on Linux does not establish official support for a later build. For Steam Deck with SteamOS, do not treat old test reports as a launch guarantee. This statement does not establish Steam Deck frame rates, a working fix, or that every Linux setup is unable to launch.
